Home Sweet Home

I'm *really* excited about me and the hubby's first house so I had to share a picture. I'm completely in love with our home. We bought into a wonderful neighborhood and the place has plenty of space to grow into and is just extremely well taken care of. It does have room for improvement though as the lady who lived here before apparently had a love of wallpaper but a fear of any sort of color. I can see past the hospital white walls though and I know a few simple coats of paint will really liven things up. I guess the plus side of having no previous color is that we don't have to worry about priming! I can't wait to start decorating and take it from the blank slate it is now and turn it into our dream home. I'll start posting before & after pics of the interior soon once I get rooms closer to completion. I figure that'll motivate me to hurry and finish up these projects on my to-do list so I can quickly reveal them here!

Tasty Tuesday-Pink Lemonade Cupcakes

I've decided that every Tuesday for kicks and giggles I'm going to post a new recipe of the types of food I actually cook/bake. Let me be clear to the foodies out there eager for awesome new ideas-you will not find any gourmet meals here! I'm a busy gal with a random schedule and I prefer 30-minute meals to the four-course variety, but I do enjoy spending some time in the kitchen so I'll share my favorite quickie recipes here :) Today's recipe is for pink lemonade cupcakes. They're deliciously tart and the perfect unexpected treat for any occasion.

You'll need:

1 package white cake mix

3 egg whites

1 cup water

1/3 cup frozen pink lemonade concentrate (thawed)

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

5 drops red food coloring

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line muffin cups with paper baking cups. Beat all ingredients in a large bowl with electric mixer for about 2 minutes. Fill muffin cups 3/4 full and bake for approximately 20 minutes.

You can frost the cupcakes with any kind of frosting you desire, but if you like to make your own like I do then mix 1/4 cup frozen pink lemonade concentrate (thawed), 1/3 cup softened butter, and 4 cups powdered sugar. You can add a few drops of red food coloring if you'd like the frosting to also be pink.

Paint project fail

So my husband and I just recently bought a house, and being that we are young and first-time homeowners we're not exactly pros when it comes to doing the things homeowners do during remodeling. This includes painting. We bought some paint supplies and I guess I either got the wrong type of roller or just purchased a really cheap brand because there is a bunch of lint stuck in the paint. It now looks like I have pubic hair all over my master bedroom wall. Yay.

Here we go again...

I feel like a born-again virgin to blogging being that I haven't done so since my wedding planning days. Back then I blogged about my ceremony ideas, my reception decor, my dress, and even the mundane little details nobody cares about but you feel obligated to share with people anyway. I suppose that's typical bride behavior though; that mentality of "all my ideas rock and the world is so fortunate to hear them." This blog will hopefully have a little more substance to it as it's about the multi-faceted me. I believe having a blog to keep up with will motivate me to live an even more interesting life since I'm not going to start one of these just to bore everyone who happens to stumble upon my little page. Soooo check back often, feel free to comment, and enjoy my ramblings. Oh and if you happen to need ideas for your upcoming nuptials, you can hop on over to my wedding blogs. Because let's face it...my ideas rock ;)
